August, for me, is always the busiest month of the year. With the beginning of a new school term, getting back into the swing of things can be both demanding and tiring. As the work load begins to pile up, I find I have less time on my hands and my sewing machine begins to get neglected. This year though, I am making a conscious effort to sew as much as I possibly can and I aim to complete at least one project a month.
By having the One Week One Pattern challenge fast approaching, I have dedicated the month of August to sewing at least two new Zinnia skirts in preparation for said challenge! It’s going to be a hectic month in the W&T household.
The two Zinnia skirts that I have already managed to rustle up seem to have a very strong floral theme. So, I think I’ll try and steer clear of all things floral when I take a trip to Mandors next week! If you are anything like me, there is no such thing as a ‘quick trip’ to the fabric shop. Even if I plan with military precision (Get in. Get the thread. Get back out again.) I always find myself drawn to all the pretty, shiny things; spending hours gaping at all the beautiful fabric, interesting buttons and all amazing things in the haberdashery. Only snapping out of my trance when the purchase is made and I am frolicking up the road excited to start the new project. Perhaps this time I’ll invest in some Liberty fabric or some neoprene jersey, who knows! But, I can’t wait for a good rummage to find the perfect material.
Remember, one week, one pattern runs from the 6th – 12th September, so there is still time to sign up! So dust those cobwebs off your sewing machine and get sewing!
